One of the newer Connecticut State Parks, the Connecticut River Greenway State Park features miles of fun on and off the water, with numerous interesting stop-off points, including Nowottuck State Rail Trail, Mount Sugarloaf State Reservoir and the Great Falls Discovery Center at Turner Falls. The park and open spaces along its length proved a nice variety of activities, including hiking, camping, picnicking, and accessible bathrooms.

Whether one wants scenic vistas, unspoiled natural beauty or just a chance to float and relax, the Connecticut River Greenway State Park can serve it up. The Connecticut River has 8 access points within the parks boundaries. Motorized boats are not permitted, which means there won’t be any noise to scare the river’s numerous fish away from happy anglers. Anglers are advised to make sure they have a valid Connecticut Fishing License.12 miles of shoreline within the park also enjoys permanent protections status to preserve the pristine environment.
