The West Haven Shoreline on the Connecticut coast is
one of state’s foremost locations in which to observe rare and
endangered shorebirds because it serves as a wildlife haven on the migratory
route of some of the most endangered bird species in the country. Sandy
Point at West Haven Shoreline is one of the locations featured on the
new Connecticut Coastal Birding Trail, and has been given the designation
of an "important birding area" by Connecticut Audubon Society.
Scenic and historically important Bradley Point Park marks the spot
where the British invaded West Haven on July 5, 1779, and is now a popular
recreational area beloved by picnickers. The West Haven shoreline is
also only a few minutes away from the equally historic downtown business
district.
Parking at the West Haven Shoreline costs either $10 9:00 am - 4:00
pm or $5 after 4:00 pm. A $75 nonresident beach sticker gives you parking
privileges for the season. |
