Judges' Cave in Connecticut is named after 2 of the judges that signed the warrant for the execution of King Charles I of England. When Charles II became king, after the death of Oliver Cromwell and his anti-monarch government, the regicides were forced to flee England. Of the 76 judges that sentenced Charles the 1st to death 2 called Whalley and Goffe spent time in New Haven, Connecticut. Townsfolk hid the judges in the cave and secretly sent food to them carried by young boys. Judges' Cave lies on top of West Rock in New Haven, Connecticut along the Regicides Trail, and can be found in any Connecticut Walk Book.
