Connecticut remains busy round the year with fairs and festivals symbolizing its rich culture and topography. With its unique trail system, the state has the reason to celebrate the terrain. In the month of June, Connecticut Trails Day is observed at 130 hiking spots covering the whole state. Trail adventures at this event include hiking, kayaking, tree identification, horse riding and many more activities. During the same period New Haven is filled with the joy of International Festival of Arts and Ideas where you can explore rare variety of gems, great dance and melodies.

In Hartford, the world's expert golfers, famed celebrity and large number of visitors gather at TPC River Highlands, Cromwell, to attend Travelers Championship held every year in June. Greater New Haven witnesses the Durham Fair in the month of September and is regarded as the largest agricultural fair in Connecticut. Milford Oyster Festival has been attracting visitors worldwide with its special exhibits and international food courts.

 

  • New Haven Open at Yale
New Haven Open at Yale is regarded as the biggest tennis sensation in New England. It is the professional tennis tournament for women only. Played on outdoor hard courts, this tournament has earlier featured the top tennis players like Venus and Serena Williams, James Blake and Lindsay Davenport.

The event is held for one complete week and Yale remains abuzz with festival like activities during this period. It not only catches the fancy of tennis enthusiasts but also circulates loads of fun among kids. Special Kids Day is celebrated throughout the tournament where in little lots have the whale of their time enjoying funny music and yummy food. Jazz lovers can also satiate their instincts with a live jazz concert packed with the series of events.

  • Great Connecticut Traditional Jazz Fest
Music is not the only thing that you enjoy in Great Connecticut Traditional Jazz Fest. You are also greeted with the wonderful views of Mountain Ridge in Meriden where this largest event of northeast Connecticut is held every July. Connecting the three towns Wallingford, Meriden and Middlefield, this ridge is included among the most picturesque mountains in Connecticut. The music at this festival comes with a wonderful mix of hot jazz, jung band and the perfectly tuned New Orleans style Dixieland.

About 18 bands from different parts of America come to participate in this festival held simultaneously at 4 venues. Family facilities include children activities, swimming pool, tennis courts and special dance lessons. An antique car show is also organized during the event.
