Overview ofSweitzer Lake State Park- Facts,Trivia,and Historical Information : Sweitzer Lake State Park is located in the arid region southeast of Delta along Highway 50. This is a day-use area open year round. The 137 surface-acre lake is the main attraction. Unfortunately this lake was built on an alluvial plain created by the Deltas of the Gunnison and Uncompahgre Rivers. Selenium from the stone on which the lake was built has been found in dangerous levels in the fish. This makes them dangerous for human consumption.
