Overview ofEleven Mile State Park- Facts,Trivia,and Historical Information : This site is located at an elevation of 8,600 feet in the southeastern corner of South Park, a large natural mountain park in central Colorado. The focus of the park is 3,400-acre Eleven Mile Reservoir, one of the largest reservoirs in Colorado. The nearby Front Range and interesting rock formations provide spectacular scenery for individuals enjoying the reservoir. Eleven Mile State Park is open year-round with 350 campsites for overnight accommodations. Ideal wind conditions make Eleven Mile a popular but not overly crowded destination for sailing, windsurfing and winter ice boating on this wide-open reservoir. Motor boaters and kayakers also find plenty of room to play during the summer months. Many species of birds reside in or migrate through the park, making for wonderful bird watching prospects. Neighboring park, Spinney Mountain, offers additional opportunities for birding and fishing. Waterfowl hunting chances for a wide variety of ducks are excellent and are available each fall!
