This river offers a few choices for river rats. North Platte starts
off calm, with a few slight obstacles before rushing into more turbulent
waters. Expert kayakers love the challenge and can be seen slipping
between rocks and through narrow corridors.
If you put in further downstream, this relatively unexploited Colorado
gem can provide more comfortable waters for families or beginners. There
are various campsites along the latter stretch, making it easy to extend
your float.
Fishing is another celebrated aspect of North Platte. The trout are
plentiful and it’s hard to tire of the views.
So as long as your trip is thoroughly mapped out, this river has plenty
