Colorado’s first wild and scenic river is a rapid
ride through varying terrain. Cache La Poudre, meaning hiding place
of powder after local folklore runs an interesting route dropping 7,000
feet along the way. It starts high in the Rocky Mountains before joining
the South Platte River toward the coast.
The amount of attractions along the way are almost innumerable, any
worthwhile outdoor activity has its outlet somewhere along the way.
The diverse plant life and active wild animals make the banks a well-preserved,
primitive swarm.
The river’s easy accessibility have made it an increasingly popular
attraction, rivaling the mighty Arkansas, and conservationists are working
to make sure it keeps its pristine visage. |
