A series of about twenty odd rock formations exists in
this public site, the most notable being Balanced Rock and Kissing Camels.
The Colorado Springs area in which the gardens are found house some
of the most beautiful and baffling natural sandstone creations in the
world.
Now almost constantly inhabited by tourists and sightseers, the land
here has been divvied up between man’s use and nature’s
sprawl. Several parks, ranging from mild to rugged, crisscross the park
and lead adventurers to each of the park’s geological staples.
The visitors center offers thorough information on the sandstone marvels,
including a film aptly named “How Did Those Rocks Get There?” |
