Curecanti National Recreation Area

Blue Mesa Reservoir lies in the midst of this popular (and free) nationally recognized plot. The massive manipulated lakes were initially sought after for their practical benefits such as electricity production and water storage, but they have become popular vacation spots with their prime fishing and mountainous views.

Windsurfing and recreational boating also take place on the expansive waterfronts various docks and ramps provide easy access. Land activities include hiking and general exploration. The scenic overlooks are well worth the effort of an upward climb.
