 Curecanti National Recreation Area offers hikers scenic views, Colorado wildlife viewing opportunities with interpretive signs to help visitors understand the area’s rich culture and history.
Among the National Park hiking trails found at the Curecanti National Recreation Area are the easy 1.5-mile Neversink on the north shore of the Gunnison River near the Great Blue Heron rookery, which is a great place to indulge in a bit of Colorado fishing.
Pine Creek is a 2-mile moderate trail on the south side of the Black Canyon that leads to the Gunnison River below Blue Mesa Dam. Interpretive signs tell the story of the area’s narrow gauge railroad.
Curecanti Creek is a very strenuous trail at 4 miles. The trail follows the banks of Curecanti Creek to Morrow Point Lake. There are 2 campsites located at end of Curecanti Creek trail.
Hermit's Rest is the longest trail at 6 miles. It features a wooded camp on the shores of Morrow Point Lake.
