Resting high above Lake County, 10,000 feet above sea
level is Leadville, a town rich in history and opportunity. Once home
to many famous names, including Oscar Wilde, the Guggenheims, Carnegie,
and the legendary Molly Brown, it is a beautiful example of a prosperous
mountain community.
Leadville currently boasts a comfortable blend of locals and tourists,
both either proud or mystified by the central Coloradoan gem. Residents
are careful not to establish excuses for travelers to stop by, insisting
that their town is worth a visit without some upbeat development/trap.
It seems Leadville has the perfectly poised idea of what a Colorado
town should be: secluded and calm amidst the scenic outskirts.
The seasons shift drastically here, winter sees a lot of snow and summer
is sunny and full of life. Regardless of the weather, Leadville is the
perfect example of interwoven nature and neighborhood. |
