Bonny Lake State Park Beach

The beach at Bonny Lake State Park in eastern Colorado is a veritable oasis on the plains. The very sight of the tree-lined shores giving way to the rolling prairie grasslands around is a welcome sign in itself. Summer weekends finds the place full of locals. The 1,900 surface acres of water attracts people especially in the prevalent drought like conditions that has made the spot even more precious.

Lake Bonny offers quality water-based recreation. Modern facilities coupled with the open large expanses of prairie draw people all through the summers. Facilities include two beaches, four campgrounds, picnic grounds, boat ramps and the marina. Add to this a fish-cleaning station and a laundry.

Yes there's plentiful recreational opportunity at the beach offering great fun. Its an angler's delight at this well known fishing spot to hook walleye, northern pike and bass. Truly fishing is exceptional here. The beautiful sandy beaches, dependable winds, the marina at the dam and seasonably warm water makes this a great destination for swimmers, windsurfers and water skiers. The region also supports excellent bird watching opportunities.

Located on the central-eastern plains of Colorado, July and August see hot summer days and nights and a relatively dry weather. This reservoir on the Republican River could be your perfect escape if you are in the mood to cool it out in the open. Dogs are allowed but not near to the swim area.

Bonny Lake has four campgrounds - East Beach, Foster Grove, North Cove, and Wagon Wheel. There are 190 campsites for your enjoyment. Sites within each campground can accommodate tents, motor homes, pick-up campers or trailers. This campground has vault toilets and drinking water. The East Beach Campground offers sunny, sandy beaches where you can have fun in the sun and sand.
