The San Mateo Coast is known for something more than just the beaches. A lesser-known series of state parks lines the coast of San Mateo. These state parks essentially serve to protect the beachside seal-breeding grounds, redwood forests & nature preserves.
Each of these state parks is home to some interesting attraction. While there are parks that are truly a bird watchers paradise, some others feature redwood forests or are breeding grounds for elephant seals. Not only this, the San Mateo Coast region also serves as an ideal trailhead for hikers & bikers & offers a solitary recluse from the busy city life.
