The rustic town of Homewood surrounds the base of the ski resort. Here, one of Tahoe's grand mansions has been converted to a charming bed and breakfast, and a variety of other lodging, dining, shopping and recreation provide off-site enjoyment. Of its 59 runs, 15 percent are beginner, 35 percent are advanced and 50 percent are in the vital intermediate category that contributes to Homewood's singular reputation for all-family recreation.
