The city's characteristic fog often covers the western half of the city all day during the summer and early fall. In eastern neighborhoods the fog is less pronounced, especially in late spring and during September and October, which are the warmest months of the year. San Francisco is fairly sunny with an average of only 105 cloudy days per year.
