Shamu at SeaWorld San Diego
SeaWorld is a marine mammal parks in San Diego, California. The park features killer whale, sea lion, and dolphin shows, as well as zoological displays featuring various other marine animals. The parks' icon is Shamu, an Orca whale (more commonly known as the Killer Whale); 'Shamu' is used as a stage name for adult orcas in performances at SeaWorld parks. The Busch Entertainment Corporation, the family entertainment division of Anheuser Busch, a company is known for beer theme parks, owns SeaWorld.

SeaWorld San Diego also offers a variety of amusement-park style thrill rides, including Journey to Atlantis, a combination roller coaster and splashdown ride.

The SeaWorld parks are accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association. SeaWorld has also made contributions to wildlife conservation, and its scientists, zoologists, trainers and rescue teams participate in research and wildlife preservation. Still, Organizations such as the WSPA and the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society campaign against the park’s captivity of Orcas due to their greatly reduced lifespan when in captivity.
