Since the storied logging days in the region
of Redwoods National Forest, much has been done about the conservation
of the land. With new regulations and conservation efforts within the
park, it is hoped Redwood will regain its prominence as a mind-boggling
California natural attraction.
Redwood has become quite accessible, allowing visitors of all ages and
abilities to take the plunge into the park’s dramatic atmosphere.
Human interaction though is continually being limited for the good of
the park natives such as trout, plovers, and mountain lions. And of
course, the sequoias remain one of Redwood’s main attractions.
The trees are huge and have existed here for thousands of years. Some
soar to heights of thirty five stories and can be quite dizzying to
first time visitors.
Redwood National Forest provides a unique introduction to the western
American wilderness and an interesting overview of wildlife in wild
California. Hiking the park is preferred, but make sure you are well
aware of safety precautions. The local animals can become suspicious
of strange behavior.
