Channel Islands National Park

California Home | California Sitemap
The Channel Islands are a great way to check out the California coastline, offering a unique perspective. There are a slew of islands, varying greatly in size, all quite worthy of a stop.

The visitor center gets the most traffic of any of the Channel Islands or waterways between, leaving the islands well preserved and serene. Over one hundred rare or unique species exist on the islands or just off the coastline. In winter, you can witness the migration of the world’s largest animal, the blue whale. Summer days can be spent on island trails or weaving the water aisles between in a kayak or canoe. Scuba diving and snorkeling are also popular pastimes in these parts.

Its close proximity to Los Angeles makes the Channel Islands a worthwhile escape from the rigors of the city. Whether your trip is focused on natural sites or you just want to escape the city for a while, the Channel Islands are a great choice.
