The Mammoth Lakes are located in east-central California, southeast of Yosemite National Park. The Mammoth Lakes area also includes the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area (widely considered to be one of the best ski resort areas in the United States) as well as the town of nearby Mammoth Lakes. Also included in this general area are the California lakes of Crowley Lake and June Lake, as well as Rock Creek Canyon, Devils Postpile National Monument, June Mountain Ski Area, Bodie State Historic Park and the Ansel Adams and John Muir Wilderness Areas.
