Located in Mt. Tamalpais State Park, the Bootjack-Rock
Spring Loop is an 8-mile long hiking path that provides stunning views
of San Francisco, the Marin Headlands and especially nearby Muir Woods
National Monument. The Bootjack-Rock Spring Loop is moderate difficulty
and is rock and rutted in some spots, but the scenery is worth the trip.
The loop follows a waterfall-dotted stream through a pristine Redwood
Forest, and has an elevation gain of 1,770 feet, providing its impressive
vistas, to a high point of nearly 2,000 feet above sea level at the
Mountain Theater.
The Bootjack-Rock Spring Loop is open all year thanks to the clement
California climate, so visitors to the area can enjoy Northern California
hiking at any time. Even winter backpacking is welcome there. A map
of the Bootjack-Rock Spring Loop can be found on any map of Mt. Tamalpais
trails or a map of the Marin Headlands. |
