Yosemite National Forest Fishing

Fishing in Yosemite National ForestTrout is the name of the game for angler planning on some Yosemite National Forest Fishing. Yosemite is among the best places in the state of California for trout fishing because the streams and rivers on the valley floor are extremely well stocked.

Native Rainbows Golden, Brown, and Brook Trout make their home in the backcountry waters, and at the higher elevations. Most of the fish in the valley are typical planters measuring between 1-foot and 16 inches. The trout tend to dwindle in size at higher elevations, but in the backcountry natives have perfect coloring.

Fly-fishing is a favorite in this territory even though the rivers are often heavily overgrown so that the opportunities for fly-fishing are rather limited. Still, the excellent California fishing here makes for some stiff competition for the best spots.
