Seacliff State Beach

California Home | California Sitemap
SEACLIFF STATE BEACH: This long stretch of sand and varied bluffs is a wonderful place for picnicking, fishing, looking at marine life, bird watching, swimming and various beach related activities. The park is set up for RV camping, has an interpretive center the beach is particularly known for the fishing and fossil finds of extinct marine creatures hidden away in the bluffs.

CLIMATE: As with most of the central California coast, there will be a wide mix of fog, marine layers, sunshine and layered clothing is always advised.

ACTIVITES: Besides fishing on the pier at Seacliff State Beach, hiking, taking long walks along the extended stretch of sand, hiking some of the trails nearby in Seacliff Park, or viewing the USS Palo Alto, one of three cement ships built during World War I, has been a very popular attraction for tourists, since it was placed there in 1929 at the end of the pier. Only the pier is open to the public, however.

LOCAL FLAVORS: The closest city, where you will find the most varied activities is Santa Cruz. Only about a 10 minute drive from the Seacliff, downtown Santa Cruz is a wonderful spot for year-round tourists. Santa Cruz boasts numerous shops, a fisherman’s wharf, various forms of entertainment, to include the famous Beach Boardwalk and Amusement Park, opened year-round. If you are looking for cultural and social activities, Pacific Avenue is considered Santa Cruz’s social and cultural center. Santa Cruz has several museums to choose from, an array of Victorian homes, galleries and an energetic nightlife. All is enhanced by the wonderful flavor of the Pacific Coast. Santa Cruz is a wonderful spot for all ages. If you are not interested in busyness of a city, then Seacliff is close to Capitola and Aptos, also two wonderfully quaint towns with shops and restaurants.
