Location: Cambria, California
CAMBRIA: Is an incredible little oasis north of San Luis Obispo,
south of the famous Hearst Castle off Highway One that should
not be missed. Nestled in the middle of towering pines, the town
offers many art and antique shops. There are a wide variety of
excellent restaurants and no fast food chains (by design). Like
every small town, Cambria has an assortment of parades, social
events and Friday farmer's markets that help you remember a simpler
life.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS:
Hearst Castle in San Simeon is a 10 minute drive up Highway One
that should not be missed. Contact Info: http://www.hearstcastle.org/
Elephant Seals can be seen (and heard) just north of Cambria
at the colony near Piedras Blancas. These immense animals can
exceed 8 feet in length and weigh several thousand pounds.
Moonstone Beach is one of the nicest beaches on the Central Coast
for "tide pooling" by kids of all ages, or look for
those famous Moonstones, that gave the beach its name!
CLIMATE: As with any of the beaches on the California central
coast, weather varies and layered clothing is highly recommended.
