AVILA BEACH : Not far from San Luis Obispo and off Highway 101
is Avila Beach -- where beach lovers assert that there is perpetual
sun and attest to this beach as being the warmest in the county.
Avila Beach is popular for sightseeing, pier strolling, deep-sea
fishing - and general sun-worshiping.
Another popular activity in Avila is whale watching, at Port
San Luis, where a number of boat operators offer two-hour |

tours between October and March. There is also a popular mineral
spring baths located in redwood tubs on the tree-lined hillsides
nearby. With the weather generally on the sunny side, golfing
is another favored pastime in Avila. The courses are both relaxed
and un-crowded. The San Luis Obispo County golf courses and golf
resorts cluster within 30 miles of each other and have tee times
accessible for players of all skill levels.
Bike trails, mountain biking, fishing, bird watching, hiking,
kayaking and whale watching are some of the additional activities
that you can expect to find in Avila.

LOCAL FLAVOR : Avila is close to San Luis Obispo, which is a wonderful
town for enjoying quaint shops, site seeing, historic tours, enjoying
the San Luis Mission, or driving minutes north to view the world
famous Hearst Castle. There are a number of popular wine vineyards
for tasting, and a wide variety of art galleries and artistic
shows to attend. San Luis is also known for antiques and collectibles
and its varied restaurants and night life.
CLIMATE : While Avila Beach is known for having sunnier climates,
as with any of the central coast, temperatures can vary, so layered
clothing is recommended.
