Pacifica is a quaint beach town just a 20 minute drive from San Francisco, California, and given its proximity, there is a lot of government open space to the East and the amazing beauty of the Pacific Ocean to the West. Pacifica also has some wonderful parks and recreation areas. Pacifica is a great place to relax and enjoy serenity during the day and the city lights of San Francisco at night.

As with any of the beaches and beach towns in Northern California, the temperatures can vary with intermittent patches of fog and rain during the winter season. Layered clothing is highly recommended.

Because of the all of the open spaces, Pacifica is a great spot for hiking, walking, or just enjoying a day at the beach. California surfing is very popular in Pacifica as well as bird watching, running, golfing (on the local greens), municipal fishing at the pier and promenade, paragliding, rollerblading and skating along the beach front. Some of the popular places for hiking are:

  • San Pedro Valley Park
  • Milagra Ridge
  • Sweeney Ridge
  • Sharp Park Beach

Along with beach activities Pacifica, California has an array of other groups that sponsor activities, such as:

  • Art Guild of Pacifica
  • Poetry Group: “Out of Our Minds”
  • Pacifica Cultural Arts Center
  • Pacifica Poetry Forum
  • Pacifica Spindrift Players
  • Sanchez Art Center
  • Eleven major shopping areas
