Stinson Beach

STINSON BEACH: Stinson Beach is located on Highway One, just north of San Francisco, California. The scenery along Highway one is filled with wonderful vistas and a great reason to visit Stinson Beach. Panoramic Highway also provides access. Directions to Stinson Beach are shown below, whether you are traveling from the North, South, or East! This beach is adjacent to a 51-acre picnic park, with grills, picnic benches and tables. There is also a snack bar open April through September. Unfortunately, there are no campgrounds in the area, so the park is only open until sunset.

CLIMATE: As with any of the beaches and coastal regions in Northern California, the weather can be changeable and layered clothing is advised.

POINTS OF INTEREST: Point Reyes Lighthouse – A dramatic view, this lighthouse built in 1870 is down a 308 step walkway and built on a Point Reyes cliff. January through March, it is a great place to Whale-watch.

Bolinas Lagoon Preserve – Great egrets and great blue herons come to nest here every spring. This Lagoon is also a home for Harbor Seals.

Mt. Tamalpais State Park – This is a mountain that towers over the bay north of the Golden Gate Bridge. The view from this mountain spans the inclined hills of the East Bay to Farallon Islands. To the west there are over 6,200 acres where deer, raccoons, foxes, bobcats and numerous other species of animals inhabit. There are picnic areas, hiking trails and campsites. Muir Woods California – This is a fantastic view of coast redwoods; some of which are over 500 years old. The pine aroma is intoxicating and the shady groves include markers with descriptions of the trees and their growing cycles. This park is open daily from 8 a.m. to sunset.
