Will Rogers State Beach is located off
of Temescal Canyon Road and the Pacific Coast Highway. The beach extends
about 2 miles, with Santa Monica Beach to the south and Malibu Beach
to the north. The beach is not as hectic with the crowds as its neighboring
beaches, but does get its fair share of action in the summer.
The beach offers a nice and clean sandy
beach on which to sunbathe. There are decent
waves for beginning surfers and boogie boarders. This is also a great
place to
swim or just chill out in the water. |
The wide stretch of beach is lined
with volleyball
courts and plenty of open space to play other beach games. There are
picnic tables and benches if you want to come for lunch or just to relax.
There is a playground and easy access to the beach from the close by
parking lot, which makes this beach great to bring the family. There
is also a snack shack which is open during the summer months, which
offers the typical beach cuisine.
Will Rogers State Beach offers fire pits
for those late night bonfires. This beach could
be great for big parties or family gatherings (I believe you need a
permit to provide alcohol). Arriving early to get a fire ring is essential.
There is a bike path which is extends 20 miles south to Torrance Beach.
The path is open to cyclists, runners, walkers, rollerblading and skateboarding.
The path is a nice get away from the heavy LA traffic roads. There is
a huge parking lot close to the beach which charges $5-$6 a day. There
is also two hour metered parking on Entrada Road.
