Torrance Beach is located south of Redondo
Beach off of Paseo de la Playa. The beach is protected by a beautifully
landscaped hillside to the north/east and the Palos Verdes hills community
to the south. The white sand beach extends approximately 2 miles and
is paralleled by a bike path which connects Torrance to its northern
neighboring beaches.
The beach is lined with lifeguard towers
and is very popular during the summer season because of its easy beach
access, clean and beautiful sandy beaches and fun summertime activities. |
There are volleyball nets, an amazing bike trail and pedestrian path,
and decent size waves for surfing, boogie and skim boarding. Malaga
Cove is located directly south and can be fun to explore at high tide.
Torrance is one of LA County’s off
the beaten track California beaches. It is somewhat hidden in the hills
of Palos Verdes and can be outshined by the popular beach hangouts to
the north; Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach. If you
are looking for a sweet beach in LA without the hectic summer crowds,
this may be the place for you.
Torrance Beach holds an annual Daily Breeze International Surf Festival
which attracts a big crowd in the summer. This is also a very active
beach, with great running trails, beautiful beaches for swimming and
an awesome bike trail and bike lanes above for cycling. This combo makes
the city of Torrance a great candidate community for triathlons. The
Torrance Beach Cities Team Triathlon in held here every September.
There is a parking lot above the beach with ramp and stairway access,
which charges $5.00 a day or you can pay by the hour. There is also
parking available in close by residential neighborhoods.
