Point Mugu State Park is located about 15 miles south of Oxnard,
California off of the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). This is a great
beach to have an ocean front picnic or party. There are several
picnic tables with fire pits spread out along the sand, shaded
by many sycamore trees. The beautiful rocky bluff towards the
south end of the beach provides for beautiful photographic opportunities
and could be fun to explore.
The white sandy shore is a beautiful place to bring family and
friends, with plenty of space to sunbathe or have a beach blanket
picnic. |
The beach activity here is endless. There are sufficient
waves here for surfing, there are calm waters for swimming and
sometimes when the wind picks up, windsurfing and kite surfing
are popular pastimes. Whether you partake in the recreational
side of beach days or choose to lounge about and relax, this is
a stunning place to choose.
Point Mugu’s camping site is called Sycamore Canyon Campground
and is popular for both overnight camping and for day use. The
best time to visit is during the off season, due to heavy crowds
during the summer months. You can still enjoy the beauty of the
camping area and the warm weather throughout most of the year.
Camping costs range from $15.00- $20.00 dollars a night, depending
on the season.
There is an abundance of hiking trails around the area. The wildflowers
during the spring and summer months bring many hikers to this
site. There are also biking trails available for the more adventurous
types.
Parking at Point Mugu costs $10.00 a day and the lot is open
from 8am to Sunset.
