New York a cosmopolitan state, were people from all over the world have nestled here. Irrespective of religion, culture or country they belong New York has given place to all. This is not all, it also gives opportunities to the people of different ethnic groups to nurture their culture and celebrate their religious festivals and fervor. Whether it is Chinese New Year Celebration, St. Patrick’s Day or Persian Parade Nowrouz Festival.
This seems exaggerating but it is quite true, if it is Chinese New Year Celebration, you actually feel to be in China and so is with other festivals. The Sprinf Vernal Equinox, Noorooz, The Persian New Year is basically a festival of Iran and the Iranian- Americans celebrate here in New York with great pomp and show.
This year too the celebration will take place on 29th of March at 11 am at Madison and 41 Street. It is a spectacular sight to see a procession with different hues of decorated floats and ensembles of dancers and musicians. The event will continue at the end of the parade at Madison Square Park, were people can enjoy Persian food a rare treat along with music and dancing till 5 pm.
The parade showcases the rich culture of Iranians and their own way of celebration. Other traditional Iranian holidays are happily enjoyed and celebrated by the Iranian-American and they include Mehregan (the fall festival), Yalda ( The winter celebration) and Chaharshanbeh ( last wednesday eve of the Persian Calendar).
