The Mississippi Delta's natural beauty and numerous outdoor
adventure opportunities draw visitors to Lake Chicot 8 miles northeast
of Lake Village on AK HWY 144. The 16-mile long lake is Arkansas' largest
natural lake, and is a perfect site for Arkansas fishing and Arkansas
boating. Anglers cast for crappie, bass and bream in Lake Chicot, particularly
on the upper end during the spring and fall, while fishing for catfish
is outstanding year-round.
The marina at Lake Chicot provides boats for rent, fuel, bait and a
launch ramp. Those interested in the area's history and natural resources
can check out the exhibits and programs at the Visitor Center.
Lake Chicot features a park nestled in a large pecan grove, that offers
camping, fully-equipped cabins with kitchens, patios and pools in the
summer only, as well as areas for picnicking, pavilions, and playgrounds.
The park is situated within the Mississippi Flyway, and offers incredible
bird watching opportunities. Every fall the park provides tours of the
lake and levee and programs for viewing rare storks, ibis, egrets and
ducks.
