The city of Conway was founded by Asa P. Robinson, who was the chief engineer for the Little Rock-Fort Smith Railroad in the year 1872 shortly after the Civil War. He laid-off a town site around the railroad depot and named it Conway Station. What then began as two small stores, two saloons, a depot, some temporary housing and a post office has come a

long way to be the seventh most populous city in Arkansas State that is home to 699,757 residents as of now.

Conway City is home to the Central Baptist College, Hendrix College and the University of Central Arkansas, which is a state-run institution respected for its programs in Education, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy. Nicknamed as the ‘City of Colleges’ Conway is culturally eventful exhibiting plenty of art, music and theatre festivities provided by the students of these colleges.

A very popular sport-fishing destination, Lake Conway is the largest man-made lake in the U.S., which is home to largemouth bass, crappie, gar, catfish, bream, bowfin and various other species of fishes. Conway City also has its share of business and industry, and is home to noted companies like Nabholz Construction, Acxiom Corporation, and the Baldwin Piano Company. Moreover, Hewlett-Packard has announced that it would be opening a facility employing 1,200 people at the Meadows Office & Technology Park.
