Lake Austell made big news for fishing enthusiasts a few years back when a 15-pound, 12-ounce largemouth bass was hooked from its waters. All of 85 acres of the lake, with two fishing lakes, boat launch and dock and sandy swimming beach are ideally set in Village Creek State Park. Even though Lake Austell, along with the near by Lake Dunn, gets known more for fishing opportunities, even so swimming in the designated sandy beach area makes for a pleasurable water recreation. Located at the East Arkansas delta in St Francis National Forest, Storm creek is an amazingly refreshing spot. But talking of water recreation activities Storm Creek remains very popular in the category of wilderness beach resorts. You have some awesome aquatic activities on the swimming beach here. The lake's sportfish include largemouth and hybrid striped bass, bluegill, red-ear sunfish, black crappie and blue and channel catfish.

Swimming, camping and hiking are available at the lake, as are 16 campsites open only from April through Labor Day weekend. A bathhouse with showers is located in the day-use area adjacent to the lake, which also has a barrier-free fishing pier.

Facilities here include camping units, picnicking, flush toilets, drinking water, boating and the fabulous swimming beach. You also have fishing on the accessible fishing pier and the boat ramp. Group pavilions are available with electricity and water. Enjoy the feel of sand in your shoes or dipping your feet in the lake that will tempt you to makes some waves here.
