One of the most popular destinations for hiking in Phoenix is the Piestewa Peak Recreation Area. Surrounded by freeways & resorts, the recreation area is named in memory of Lori Piestewa, a Tuba City soldier. Piestewa Peak features two main attractions - the easy Circumference Trail & the 1.2 mile rocky Summit Trail, both of which are known for their fabulous desert & city views, especially during sunset. One of the 27 ‘Phoenix Points of Pride’, the Piestewa Peak Recreation Area is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Burro Creek Recreation Area is situated at an altitude of 1,960 feet within the scenic Sonoran desert canyon. Located 60 miles northwest of Wickenburg on Highway 93, this peaceful recreation area has for long been attracting travelers. The most fascinating attraction for visitors to Burro Creek is the striking contrast between saguaro-studded hills with desert backdrop, and the tree-lined banks & deep blue pools of Burro Creek. Popular activities at the Burro Creek Recreation Area include picnicking, camping, backpacking, photography, etc.
