  • Arizona Lakes

While for most people Arizona is associated with wide stretches of desert land, the fact is that Arizona is home to some excellent lakes that offer anglers & water-sport enthusiasts plenty to enjoy on their Arizona vacation. Enjoy fishing for trout & bass in the deep, cool waters of Lake Havasu, feel the thrill of outdoor recreations like water skiing & camping at the Roosevelt Lake or enjoy the secluded beaches of Lake Mohave.

Theodore Roosevelt Lake or the Roosevelt Lake is located about 130km northeast of Phoenix & is an angler’s haven. Located entirely within Arizona, Lake Roosevelt is the largest reservoir or lake with a shoreline of over 88 miles. It is also the single most popular water-based recreational area in Arizona. Over million visitors come down to the lake each year for enjoying recreations like water skiing, boating, hiking, camping, fishing, etc. The Roosevelt Lake is especially popular for its fishing opportunities. It also acts as a rest area for migrating waterfowl, with as many as 3000 wintering Canada geese flocking here to feed on Bermuda grass.

Lake Mohave in Arizona is a 67 mile lake or reservoir on the Colorado River. This narrow lake stretches between the steep walls of Painted, Eldorado, Pyramid & Black canyons. Lake Mohave & its adjacent lands form a part of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area that is maintained by the National Park Service. Featured on the lake are two excellent resorts - Lake Mohave Resort & Cottonwood Cove. Both the resorts offer lodging, restaurants, camping, store & marina. In addition to the resorts, the lake also offers numerous beaches & a variety of recreations like kayaking, fishing, swimming, skiing, boating & scuba diving. While the clear waters of the lake are a fisherman’s delight, the desert area is great for hikers & wildlife photographers.
