Anyone looking for great Arizona hiking should check
out the Cave Creek Gardener Loop near Tucson. The loop is 10.25-mile
round trip, has an elevation gain of 3,815 feet and takes between 6
and 7 hours to complete. This is one of the more strenuous Tucson hikes,
but its difficulty level, hikers-only status and remote, rarely used
Arizona hiking trails mean that crowds are small. Summer, fall and spring
are the best seasons to go.
The Cave Creek Gardener Loop trailhead starts at Cave Creek (where else?)
and takes hikers up the eastern slopes of the Santa Rita Mountains.
There visitors will get spectacular views of the area’s canyons
and many mountain ranges.
Hiking this area may be hazardous. Visitors should take necessary safety
precautions. For more information on the Cave Creek Gardener Loop, and
to get hiking maps of the area, contact the Coronado National Forest
Nogales Ranger District.
