The Gold King Mine Museum

American mining history buffs will really dig the Gold King Mine Museum, located at the site of an old mining community named Haynes. The remains of this Arizona vacation attraction form a sort of open-air Arizona museum. There is a sawmill powered by a 1943 U.S. submarine generator engine and a gift shop offering gold panning. The tour of the village also includes a visit to an underground gold mine where visitors can take a self-guided tour and see the typical mining techniques used in the area.

The Gold King Mine Museum is maintained by owner Don Robertson, who dug the mine himself over a period of 10 years. He is continually working on the old rusty machinery to get it all up and running.
