Roper Lake Beach

Roper Lake State Park, six miles south of Safford, in southeastern, spread in 30 acres of area, has a boat ramp, natural stone hot tub, swimming beach, a day use island and campsites. Here only small electric motors boats are permitted. The beach is stocked with catfish, crappie and bass. Ten-to fifteen-pound catfish are caught regularly. It has a five miles of trails throughout, so as to stretch your muscles and view the wildlife. This is the Mariah Mesa Trail, which goes through the desert up to the top of the mesa. It takes almost twenty minutes to hike this trail. Bring wi th yourself water, sunscreen, a hat and comfortable walking shoes.

The best time to visit the beach is months of March, April and May and September, October and November. Summer temperatures rises from ninety five to one hundred degrees Fahrenheit during the day and average sixty to near seventy degrees Fahrenheit at night. In winter, daytime highs average sixty to sixty five degrees Fahrenheit, and nighttime temperatures fall to thirty to thirty five degrees Fahrenheit.
