The Tusayan Museum provides access to and information about the Tusayan Ruin, a 12th century Ancestral Puebloan village site. It is located 3 miles west of Desert View 22 miles west of Grand Canyon Village, Near Moran Point, on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Paved walking paths wind through the excavation and there is a small museum. Admission is free.
Visiting the ruins of this small Anasazi village, which date back to the late 1100’s, provides visitors with a brief history lesson on how some of the early Native American settlers in this area lived. Historians believe the settlement was home to roughly 30 people, and was in occupation for only about 25 years. The Tuyasan Ruins are reached by a 1/4th-mile trail from the museum itself. The Tusayan site is the only one of the many Anasazi sites in the area that is so easily accessible, making it one of the most interesting things to do in the Grand Canyon.
