There are a total of three public universities serving the US state of Arizona – North Arizona University, Arizona State University & University of Arizona. All three universities are governed by the Arizona Board of Regents. Arizona has just one traditional, four-year, non-profit private college namely Prescott College. In addition to this, the state has an extensive network of community colleges & two-year vocational schools.
Arizona State University

The heart & soul of Tempe, Arizona State University (ASU) located in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area is one of the only three public universities serving the state of Arizona. A public research university, it was founded in 1885 as the Tempe Normal School before it was renamed in 1945. Programs offered at ASU include, management, liberal arts, nursing, law, engineering, journalism & public policy. The university is spread across four campuses as West Campus in northwest Phoenix, Polytechnic Campus in eastern Mesa, Downtown Phoenix Campus & the original Tempe Campus.

Prescott College

Founded in 1966 in Prescott Arizona, Prescott College is a private liberal arts college offering bachelors, masters & Ph. D degrees along with teacher certification. The only traditional, non-profit organization of Arizona, Prescott College has about 750 undergraduate students & a student to faculty ratio of 10:1. Prescott College has three general programs - Resident Degree Program (RDP), Adult Degree Program (ADP) & Masters of Arts Program (MAP). Students are allowed to pursue a teaching certificate through any of these programs. In addition to the main campus of the college in Prescott, it also operates branch campus in Tucson.
