City Parks in Arizona

Share
Share Share Share
With the US state of Arizona being known for its desert landscape rich in xerophyte plants like cactus, imagining a city park with lush green lawn & flower beds or a full-fledged water-park may seem difficult. However, the fact is that Arizona has some excellent & well-maintained city parks that attract tourists & locals alike. While some parks are meant to conserve the dry regions of Arizona, there are also waterparks that seem like an oasis in Arizona's desert landscape & public parks offering recreations like swimming pool, fishing, golf, picnic, etc.
Wet & Wild

What was once known as Waterworld Safari now operates under a new name - Wet 'n' Wild. This Phoenix city waterpark features water coaster, funnel ride, family raft ride, bowl ride, tube slides, half-pipe ride, lazy river, wave pool and two kid's play-areas. Covering an area of 25 acres, the facility features Maximum Velocity, a dueling water coaster that has been the world's first. Other exciting rides at the waterpark include Tornado, a funnel ride, Serpentine Complex, Mammoth Falls, and Desert Racers & a six-lane mat racing slide. While adults can enjoy rides like Raging River, Cactus Cooler, an over 1000 feet long lazy river and Monsoon Bay, for the kids there's Boogie Board Beach & Soak 'em Playground.

Tucson Botanical Gardens

A tranquil oasis in the heart of Tucson city, the Tucson Botanical Gardens is an award winning garden region that has increased to over 5 acres encompassing 17 specialty gardens. What began as the family residence of Bernice and Rutger Porter now provides the community with a center for horticulture with five plant collections – Cactus, Trees, Natives, Low water-use ornamentals and the Historical Gardens Collection. Take a brief stroll through the garden to see core collections represented in specialty gardens. Tucson Botanical Gardens also has the Gardens Cafe 54 offering tasty treats on biodegradable natural serving materials & an interesting gift shop.
