The Moose Mountain Ski Area is located 10 west of Fairbanks, Alaska. Moose Mountain boasts 1,250 feet of vertical, with terrain that runs the gambit from Moose Meadow’s bunny slope to the North Slope’s steep and challenging runs, so there are trails suitable for skiers of a wide range of abilities.
The Moose Mountain Ski Area is fortunate in its southern exposure, which protects it from the prevailing Northeasterly winds and provides several hours of sun every day. Moose Mountain even averages 20 to 30 degrees warmer than in Fairbanks thanks to that city’s typical temperature inversion.
There is rarely a significant wait at the bottom of Moose Mountain, as the lift system consists of variable capacity turbo charged terrestrial trams (basically busses with ski racks). When the area gets backed up the helpful staff at Moose Mountain Ski Area simply adds more trams, so the 1st-rate Alaska skiing continues uninterrupted.
