  • Nancy Lake State Recreation Area
Unlike other park areas in Alaska, the Nancy Lake State Recreation Area is a lake-studded landscape preserved for recreation purposes. Just a ninety minute drive north of Anchorage, the clear waters of Nancy Lake Recreation Area provide tranquil settings for recreations like, fishing, canoeing, camping, hiking, etc. In winters, the area serves as an excellent venue for cross-country skiing & snow-matching. The best way to enjoy these recreations is to lodge into one of the 13 rustic cabins that can be rented on a nightly basis. In addition, the geographical diversity of the area provides habitat for several birds & mammals.

  • Chena River State Recreation Area
With 397 square miles of rivers, forests & alpine tundra, the Chena River State Recreation Area is an all-seasons park. Whether you wish to drive along the forest trail, escape into the snowy horizon of the park or wish to have an exciting day rock climbing & hiking, the Chena River State Recreation Area offers you ample opportunities for all. The 3 developed campgrounds of the area are built to accommodate all sorts of campers, from tent to deluxe RV campers. Located east of Fairbanks, the recreation park follows the Chena River that offers access to recreations like fishing, kayaking & canoeing. The park is an important venue during winters for 2 major dog sled races, snow machining & ski touring.
