Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park
offers adventurers an eerily accurate glimpse into life in a makeshift
Alaskan town. Homes, missions, cigar stores, and storied trails are
all up for exploration, commanding at least a day to experience.
There are various natural attractions to keep avid hikers clamoring
through the wild Alaskan woods. The Chikoot trail offers a challenging
romp taken by adventurous gold rushers. Thirty three miles of boot trodden
wilderness will give travelers an idea of the lengths early settlers
would go to for the promise of wealth. For less straining recreation,
sneak around Skagway, an area packed with lakes, wildlife, and majestic
scenery.
For those not up for hikes and climbs, take a guided tour of Skagway
streets, offered by well-informed park rangers or get acquainted on
your own. In the Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park, there are
plenty of Alaskan treasures yet to be discovered.
