Tongass / Auke Village

Juneau, Like many communities along Alaska’s coastline, Juneau is accessible to car and RV travelers via a “water” highway served by Alaska’s Marine Highway ferry system. The ferry system offers reliable service from the hard surface road connections in Bellingham, WA, Prince Rupert, B.C., Haines, AK and Skagway, AK. You can drive your vehicle onboard and enjoy a leisurely cruise that winds it way through the communities of Southeast Alaska. Juneau has two full service RV parks in addition to two USFS campgrounds. The Mendenhall Lake Campground has 68 sites, 25 of which can accommodate large RVs. It offers water, vault toilets, dump station and a rewarding view of the Mendenhall Glacier. The Auke Village Campground is 1.5 miles west of the Alaska Marine Highway ferry terminal and has 12 campsites. This campground was once a village site for the Auk Tlingit Natives. Both campgrounds are first come, first served.
