The state of Alaska celebrates several events, fairs & festivals all year round. However, one of the biggest events celebrated by the state in the winter season is the Iditarod Finish, a 1,100 mile sled dog race being organized from Anchorage to Rome. Other popularly celebrated events in Alaska include, Talkeetna’s Winter Fest, Kodiak Crab Festival, Alaska State Fair, Wilderness Women Competition, Alaska Bald Eagle Festival, the weeklong Anchorage Fur Rendezvous & the weekend Seward’s Polar Bear Jump Off Festival.

  • Iditarod Finish
Alaska’s biggest winter event, the Iditarod Finish is a 1,150 mile long sled dog race taking place from Anchorage to Nome. Held each year in the month of March, the event is celebrated with great fervor with grand bouquets, native dancing, reindeer potluck, art & craft shows, golf tournament, Mushers Ball & much more. The race begins sometime in early March on a Saturday in downtown Anchorage area. The actual race however begins on Sunday during which the teams are required to cross through thousand miles of wilderness to reach Nome on Alaska’s northwest coast.

  • Alaska State Fair
The Alaska State Fair is one of the major events celebrated by the state. The Fairgrounds are located just an hour north of Anchorage, nestled in the fertile Matanuska-Susitna Valley in the heart of Chugach Mountains. Celebrated each year during fall, the Alaska State Fair is home to beautiful flower gardens, record-setting giant vegetables, carnival rides, arts & craft, live music & endless fun. The fair is basically a showcase of Alaska’s beauty & uniqueness & the perfect end to Alaska’s summer season.
