3,502-acre DeSoto State Park sits
proudly atop beautiful Lookout Mountain in Alabama. The park features
modern chalets and campsites, a picnic area, and hiking trails
and lots of top-notch recreational amenities. Of special interest
are the scenic DeSoto Falls and Indian Falls along the West Fork
of Little River.
DeSoto State Park has 78 excellent Alabama campsites located in
a beautiful setting. This campground has 58 water and electric back-in sites, 10 water,
electric and sewer back-in sites, and 10 water, electric and sewer
pull-thru sites as well as 2 comfort stations with restrooms and
hot showers.
There are 20 individual campsites in DeSoto State Park’s
Wilderness Area, and 2 group campsites that can accommodate up
to 30 people. Each individual campsite has a fire pit and enough
room for 2 tents. Toilets and a water faucet can be found in the
wilderness area.
The park does charge for use, but the rates are very reasonable.
Primitive Camping in DeSoto State Park costs $5.00 per person
per night. A money-saving Group Rate costs $3.00 per person per
night. DeSoto State Park has an RV storage area for campers and
RV’s that goes for $1.00 per day or $25.00 per month.
