Located in Lauderdale County of Alabama, about 7 miles from Florence, Shoal Creek Preserve Tract consists of approximately 298 acres with habitats including, mature upland hardwood stands, fallow fields & scenic creek bottoms. Waterways across the site consist of Lawson Creek, Jones Branch, Camp Creek and Shoal Creek. The sole objective behind establishing this preserve is to protect animals & plants in their natural habitat while also providing ample opportunities for recreations like horseback riding, birdwatching, canoeing, hiking, photography, picnicking & nature study.

The Indian Mountain Tract

The Indian Mountain Tract located in Cherokee County, Alabama consists of nearly 514 acres of mountainous upland hardwood forest. This tract is best accessible from US Hwy. 278 northeast of Piedmont, Alabama & serves as an additional route to the adjacent Indian Mountain-Garner Tract. Recreational opportunities to be enjoyed at the Indian Mountain Tract include hunting, long distance hiking, primitive camping, bird watching & nature study.
