The William B. Bankhead National Forest is the largest national forest of Alabama covering an area of 181,230 acres. This forest is recognized for being home to Sipsey Fork, Alabama’s only National Wild & Scenic River. Popularly known as the “land of a thousand waterfalls”, this vast natural treasure offers several outdoor recreations like horseback riding, hunting, boating, canoeing, hiking, etc. Headquartered in Montgomery, the Bankhead National Forest is abundant in limestone bluffs, swift streams, waterfalls & a host of wildlife. Located in central Alabama at the southern edge of Appalachians, the Talladega National Forest covers an area of 392,567 acres across eleven counties in Alabama. Extensive pine forest re-growth at the Talladega Forest hosts a diverse eco-system. Headquartered in Montgomery, this National Forest is separated into 2 areas & divided into 3 ranger districts as – The Shoal Creek & Talladega District in the northeastern part of state & the Oakmulgee District in the central part. |
